SG Stud was started back in 2003 with the purchase of the imported golden palomino stallion Aratahnes Silence is Golden, a non-registered partbred Arabian who had the bloodlines of the Triple Crown winner Ralvon Pilgrim.
I campaigned Silence very successfully in hand for four years and bred many successful progeny from him that competed in various disciplines.
I had always admired Aspen Hill's Shell Fire from when his breeder first listed him for sale as a weanling. I did not at the time have the funds, facilities or extra grazing to purchase Shell Fire at that time.
Shell Fire sold to a lady in the Bay of Plenty who bred a number of lovely pure and partbred foals from him. Again he came up for sale, and again I was in not position to buy him.
A few years later, I was browsing the Auckland Arabian Club website and came across an advertisement for Shell Fire. Without even thinking, I emailed the contact and enquired about him. His owner Haley said that she was putting him up for sale or lease due to loosing her grazing in the next few months. After a few more emails and phone calls to each other, Haley agreed to lease him to me with Right of Purchase/Renewel. In May 2008, Haley made the long trip up from Carterton to finally meet me in person and to bring Shell Fire to his new home.
